森田稔      

   ジョルダーニア教授は旧ソ連邦所属のグルジア共和国トビリシの生れですが、現在はオーストラリア在住で、メルボルン大学音楽学部の名誉研究員を勤めながら、同時に故郷グルジアのトビリシ大学付属伝統的ポリフォニー研究センター外国部門長を勤めています。彼は1978年にトビリシ音楽院で民族音楽学を専攻し、優等賞を得て卒業しました。引き続き彼は同音楽院大学院民族音楽学科に進んで、1982年にここを修了、PhD（博士号）を得ました。教授資格は1991年にキエフ音楽院で取得しています。
   彼は英語、フランス語、スペイン語、フィンランド語、中国語、アラビア語、ブルガリア語、ロシア語、そしてグルジア語で、百件以上の論文を発表しています。民謡の多声性に関する著作は、すでに1989年『多声文化の国際的関連におけるグルジアの伝統的多声性』（ロシア語、トビリシ）と2006年『誰が最初の質問を発したか？』（英語、トビリシ）とを刊行していますが、さらに2010には第3の著作として、2巻から成る『人類の文化と進化における多声歌唱』（英語、ポルトガル）が出版される予定です。
   彼は1984年に、伝統的多声性に関する一連の国際会議とシンポジウムを組織し、これは現在も進行中です。彼はトビリシ国立音楽院付属伝統多声楽研究センターの設立メンバーであり、現在もその長を勤めています。ジョルダーニア博士はオーストラリアとグルジアの国籍を持ち、1995年以来オーストラリアに住んで、メルボルン大学音楽学部の名誉研究員を勤めています。
