The sheep skin membrane is glued to the body. The player plays the drumhead with both hands holding the drum clamped between his thigh and arm. When the middle of the head is struck with the fingers, a low sound results; when the head at struck at the rim, a sharp dry sound is produced. Used mainly in ensembles and for accompaniment.
