Japan(Yaeyama)
Chinese sorghum stalk; L.24.5cm
strings: 6, idiochord

Six picces of cane of equal length are aligned lika a raft. In each two lengthways incisions are made, such that a thin section may be lifted away to form a kind of string. A short, thin piece of wood is inserted from the side at the center and at either end of the "body" formed by the six pieces of cane. Bridges are formed by two sticks, one of toothpick size and the other slightly larger, inserted so as to lift the strings away from the body. Originally a children's toy. Also called kokkinna.
