A double-headed drum, used in gamelan ensemble styles and in accompanying traditional court dance. The tension of the drumheads is regulated by sliding rings along pairs of tuning straps, which pass from one rim of the frame to the other. The drum is placed on a wooden stand with the large drumhead facing to the right of the player. Played with the bare hands. The tone quality is very deep. In some pieces it is used in a pair with 161 to articulate the basic rhythm.
