( JPEG format )The instrument is made from a length of reed with nine nodes. It is played while held at a slight angle. There is one finger hole in the center of the back of the instrument. Originally used by members of the mevlevi order of Sufism . The instrument is now used mainly for playing classical solo and ensemble music.
