"Poems, Dance and Kids in Yanaka," will take place today, Octber 08. Date: October 8, 18:00- Place: Oura refectory within the University Art Museum, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Choreography: Chisato MINAMIMURA Poem Reciting: Shuntaro TANIKAWA Dance: Local kids and peple in the community Admission: free The University Art Museum is holding an event with a "community dance" and reciting in relation with the "art-Link Ueno-Yanaka 2001". The poet Shuntaro TANIKAWA will recite his own poems and local kids in Yanaka will dance according to the choreography of Chisato NANMURA. "Poems, Dance and Kids in Yanaka" The principal role of the community art is not professional artists but various people within the community. This project aims for people to take part in expressional activities like dance, giving full play to their creative abilities through potentials of expression and rediscover their identities and the community where they live, through this group work. This community dance and poem project will be created by local kids and people with the poems by Shuntaro TANIKAWA as a key. It is supported by the choreographer and dancers, but there is no fixed script or choreography and it will be carried out in the form of a workshop. The reason we selected the title of the poem "Listening Carefully" as our theme is because we consider that art starts with "Listening Carefully". This project aims for the participants to discover the way various people in the local community should be and at the same time, to understand that the differences between each person can be the standpoint of expression, because Chisato MINAMIMURA who is deaf will leade the workshop and composes the choreography.
