On August 3, Tokyo University of the Arts welcomed Mr. Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy, who delivered a special speech on cultural exchange between Japan and Italy.
Premier Renzi, who officially visited Japan for the first time this summer, had shown willingness to talk about art and culture during his stay, and Tokyo University of the Arts President Ryohei Miyata readily invited the Italian prime minister to the university.
The university took this visit as an honor and recognized it as part of its top global initiatives, as the university is the only arts university selected for the “Top Global University Project” by MEXT. Students and staff of the university, together with guests from outside, filled the lecture hall and listened to the speech to learn at firsthand about the visions and enthusiasm of the global leader from Italy.
